La Chaveta – Our Premium Cigars from Nicaragua
We’re excited to introduce a new in-house brand in late summer 2025: La Chaveta Cigars. These handmade premium longfillers from Nicaragua are the result of thorough planning and genuine passion.
From Online Retail to Our Own Cigar Label
We’ve been operating the Cigarworld online shop for nearly thirty years. Our goal has always been to offer the full range of available cigars for the German market. Over time, we’ve launched our own labels – including our established “house brand” La Domaine de Lavalette from the Dominican Republic and Rosa Nicaragua from Nicaragua. These brands are ideal for everyday enjoyment – they offer great value for money but don’t quite match the flavor complexity of true longfillers.
La Chaveta: Premium Cigars Straight from Nicaragua
With the launch of La Chaveta Cigars, we now join the ranks of high-end cigar brands. We've long wanted to produce a brand of our own in Nicaragua. Various attempts in the past didn’t work out – for a range of reasons.
What changed everything was a close connection with a friend in Estelí: Ralf Westerwick, also from North Rhine-Westphalia, runs the Casa de Alegria factory there. We’ve shared a trusted relationship – both business and personal – for over 20 years. When Ralf told us about available production capacity at his factory, our decision was made. From the start, our priority was clear: no mass production, but a small, dedicated factory that would treat our brand with care. Ralf turned out to be the perfect partner.
Defining Features of La Chaveta
Our aim was clear: La Chaveta cigars should be rolled a bit firmer – for ideal draw resistance and solid ash. Distinct pigtails at both the head and foot make these cigars unmistakable. Quality alone isn't enough – the price also has to be right. Thanks to our direct collaboration with the factory, we can offer these premium cigars at a fair price point below €10.
Why “Chaveta”?
The name “La Chaveta” refers to the rounded blade (chaveta) used to cut cigar wrappers – a traditional tool in cigar production. Our hope is that this name will soon stand for top-tier quality from Nicaragua.

La Chaveta Cigars are available in elegant wooden boxes, practical freshpacks, or pocket-sized bundles. The various formats ensure that every aficionado can find their preferred shape. In our shop, the La Chaveta brand is available exclusively.
La Chaveta White
The first line is called La Chaveta White. It is mild, aromatic, and yet complex – made possible by a Nicaraguan filler blend from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega. A top-notch blend from Nicaragua.
- La Chaveta White Perla – compact and ideal for short smoke breaks.
- La Chaveta White Robusto – balanced burn and aroma.
- La Chaveta White Toro – fuller-bodied and suited for longer smoke sessions.
La Chaveta Sampler
La Chaveta Samplers come attractively packaged in freshpacks or pouches. Each set includes different formats and often comes at a notable discount compared to buying individually – ideal for discovering the brand.
The first sampler, La Chaveta White Freshpack, includes six masterpieces in Toro, Robusto, and Perla formats. They deliver a creamy, smooth experience with consistent draw – and are often over 30% cheaper than buying them separately.
La Chaveta Cutter
As a perfect addition to the brand, we offer a matching cigar cutter. Manufactured by Thorsten Wolfertz using Solingen steel blades, it’s a fitting companion to our premium in-house brand from Nicaragua.
