Dunbarton Cigars – A Brand With Character
If this label were a film, it would probably be announced like this: "Dunbarton – the new masterpiece from the creator of Drew Estate!" Because behind the brand stands Steve Saka. He’s not only an imposing figure—this tall, burly guy with a shaved head and goatee also has an impressive résumé.
For many years, he was under contract with Drew Estate, ultimately serving as CEO. During his time there, he was one of the key figures shaping the brand and played a major role in its success. After his departure, he was subject to a two-year industry non-compete agreement before returning to the tobacco business.
Steve’s Comeback
In 2015, he stepped back onto the scene—introducing his new project, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. Despite what the name might suggest, it has nothing to do with the Scottish county. Dunbarton was simply the name of the town in New Hampshire where Steve lived at the time.
Sobremesa Cigars by Dunbarton
The first line he introduced bears the name Sobremesa, a Spanish term with no direct German equivalent. It describes the time after a meal when people linger at the table, enjoying a drink—or, of course, a fine cigar.
The Sobremesa Brûlée series seems to remind master blenders of dessert cream with its Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador. Just like caramelized sugar, it has a light brown hue—and is equally hard to resist.

“Sin Compromiso” hardly needs translation. The bold name sounds like the motto of a determined general—or the arm tattoo of a small-time criminal.
But in reality, the name says it all—here, quality reigns supreme. This line represents the pinnacle of Steve’s portfolio, truly high-end in terms of raw tobacco, blending, and craftsmanship.
