Caminetto Handmade Pipes

The history of the pipe brand Caminetto is closely connected with the long tradition of pipe making in the Italian town of Cantu. In this region, many well-known names in the industry appear again and again, as numerous manufacturers and craftsmen are closely linked.

The brand Caminetto was founded by Giuseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice. Both initially worked at Castello in the 1960s, one of the best-known Italian pipe manufacturers. Together with Gianni Davoli, they later established their own company. With handmade pipes from Italy, they quickly achieved a breakthrough, especially in the American market but also in Europe. After prolonged internal disputes, this collaboration eventually ended in 1986.

Many years later, Tommaso Ascorti, the founder’s grandson, revived the tradition. In 2013, he brought the Caminetto brand back to the market, continuing the family’s craft heritage.

Caminetto pipes are known for their particularly careful workmanship. Selected briar wood is used, valued for its durability and its excellent properties for pipe smoking. The pipes are made with great experience to ensure an even and pleasant smoking experience.

A distinctive hallmark of many models is the so-called Baffo. This small decoration refers to the founder’s moustache and remains one of the brand’s characteristic details to this day.

In terms of design, the shapes are often based on proven classic pipe models. At the same time, Italian pipe makers like to add their own signature style, so many models show a relaxed and creative interpretation of traditional forms.

Caminetto pipes are not exactly cheap, but they offer a solid price performance ratio. Anyone who values craftsmanship and good briar will find durable pipes here that can provide enjoyment for many years.

Each Caminetto pipe is handmade and therefore a unique piece. Small differences in the wood and shape are part of the process and give these Italian pipes their distinctive character.
