La Aurora Cigars – 120 Years of Dominican Tradition
La Aurora is considered the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. Since 1903, handmade cigars have been produced in Santiago de los Caballeros – and the company remains in the hands of the León Jimenes family to this day. Many employees have emigrated from Cuba and contribute their expertise to production.
Over more than a century, numerous series have been created that appeal to both connoisseurs and newcomers. Here’s a compact overview.
Principes and Imperiales – Affordable Longfillers from La Aurora
With the Principes Claro, La Aurora offers mild longfillers at a low price. Those who prefer a more intense flavor can opt for the darker Maduro. Since 2022, the range has been expanded with a stronger variant from Nicaragua.

The Imperiales offer more intense tobaccos at a slightly higher price level. The Classico is relatively mild, while the Maduro delivers more spice.
Special Formats from Tradition
A real highlight is the Preferidos 1903. These formats mature for up to three and a half years – the final stage in oak barrels. Only a select few Torcedores are authorized to roll these cigars.
Anniversary Series and Historic Lines
With the 107 Ecuador, La Aurora celebrated its 107th anniversary in 2010. The more recent Nicaragua 107 opens the "Tobaccos of the World" series with tobaccos from Nicaragua. The 115 Anniversary continues the line impressively.
Cigars with Historical Dates
The 1495 Series recalls Columbus’s arrival on Hispaniola. Other lines such as Cameroon 1903, Corojo 1962, Connecticut 1987, and Maduro 1985 reference historic blends and wrapper types.

Exotic Specialties & Limited Editions
The ADN Dominican uses the traditional Andullo process – tobacco is fermented in palm leaves. The result: a sweet-spicy, complex smoke.
The Limited Editions combine special formats with small batches. The range is complemented by León Jimenes Rum, the perfect pairing with a fine La Aurora cigar.
