Horacio: Enjoyment from the Land of Volcanoes
Since its founding in 2008 in Switzerland, the Horacio brand has pursued a clear goal: premium cigars for aficionados who value a great price-performance ratio. The three founders, Christophe Leroy, Fabien Gil, and Sylvain Toaldo, pour their passion into every cigar, never compromising on quality or flavor.
From the Kitchen to the Cigar Factory
Sylvain manages marketing and global distribution from Switzerland, while Christophe and Fabien oversee production in Nicaragua. Originally produced in Costa Rica, Horacio cigars are now made in Estelí, the heart of Nicaraguan cigar production. The factory is located near the cathedral in the city center.

The three passionate cigar enthusiasts aspired to be the first Frenchmen to create fine cigars in Latin America. Working alongside experienced partners from Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, they continuously develop new blends. Despite initial challenges in Costa Rica, the positive feedback from cigar lovers kept them motivated.
The Art of Horacio Cigar Making
Horacio employs a combination of Entubado and Empalmado techniques to ensure optimal draw and even burn. Tobacco selection is done directly with producers to personally assess fermentation, aroma, and quality.
Building trust with cigar aficionados is a top priority for the Horacio founders. That’s why Christophe, Fabien, and Sylvain carefully select their tobaccos and blends with the utmost attention to detail. For them, quality always comes first.

The tobacco primarily comes from Nicaragua, complemented by leaves from Costa Rica and Ecuador. The result is cigars with complex aromas. Notes of pepper, leather, and coffee define the first third, while woody and sweet nuances of nuts and honey emerge as the smoke progresses.
Horacio combines traditional craftsmanship with tobaccos from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Ecuador—crafted for connoisseurs worldwide.
