Exclusiv Pipe Tobacco: The Origins
On December 24, 1902, Alois Pöschl founded the "Brasiltabakfabrik A. Pöschl & Cie." in Landshut. Despite limited financial resources, he began producing Schmalzler snuff tobacco, a traditional Bavarian product. The location along the Isar River also facilitated the operation of tobacco mills.
Around 1920, Pöschl introduced a trademark: a "P" in an octagon. The product range grew rapidly, soon including the tobacco-free "Schneeling" and the popular Schmalzler "Doppelaroma," which remains in demand to this day.
Reconstruction and Expansion After 1948
The Second World War posed major challenges for the company. After the war, Wilhelm and Alois Pöschl took over management, secured raw materials, and rebuilt the destroyed production facilities.
With the currency reform of 1948, the brothers expanded the product range to compensate for losses. Hansa Krüll Pipe Tobacco and Adria fine-cut tobacco were introduced. Pöschl established itself in the pipe tobacco sector and launched the popular Exclusiv series in the mid-1960s.
Internationalization and Technological Advancements
In 1979, the third generation took over the company and built an international distribution network. In 1995, a modern production facility was established in Geisenhausen to meet growing demand.
As early as 1971, Pöschl had introduced the globally successful snuff tobacco brand "Gletscherprise." In 1994, the "Red Bull" fine-cut series followed. In 2006, the additive-free fine-cut tobacco "Pueblo" was introduced, and in 2008, Pöschl entered the cigarette production market.

Since 2006, the fourth generation has led the company, focusing on product innovation and global expansion. Today, Pöschl distributes its products in over 100 countries. In 2011, the company reached its highest sales volume in history, exceeding 6,000,000 kg of tobacco.
