Don Duarte Cigars: Tradition From Estelí
Estelí is considered the center of Nicaraguan cigars. This is where Don Duarte originated, and the family of founder Roger Duarte Rodriguez has been deeply involved in tobacco cultivation for generations. Today, Don Duarte is one of Nicaragua’s established brands.
Roger’s great-grandmother already ran a small tobacco shop, and his grandfather exported raw tobacco abroad.
Nicaraguan Cigars: The Don Duarte Brand
Roger Duarte relies on the quality of Nicaraguan tobaccos. In 2001, he met Evelio Oviedo, an experienced master blender, with whom he worked for almost ten years.

Oviedo developed the blends of the handmade longfillers. After his passing in 2009, the collaboration with Don Duarte came to an end.
Villa Vieja & Don Duarte
Today, Don Duarte is owned by Fernando Navarro, who transitioned from being a cigar trader to a manufacturer. In addition to Don Duarte, he also markets the Villa Vieja brand.
