Dapper Cigars: A Brand with Dedication
Many smaller cigar brands are born from the passion of their founders—this is also true for Dapper. Behind this name stands American Ian Reith, who originally worked in the IT industry in California.
His passion for cigars led him to Estelí in 2013, where he had a cigar made to his specifications—at first, solely for personal enjoyment, without any commercial intent.
From Hobby to Brand
His first model, the now discontinued Cubo Claro, quickly gained enthusiastic followers. One neighbor, in particular, praised it with the words: "That’s a dapper cigar!"—meaning stylish or elegant. And so, the name was born.
As interest grew and demand increased, Ian sought support—including from Alex Cesa. With years of experience in the tobacco industry, including at Drew Estate, he took over distribution and played a key role in Dapper’s growth. Since 2019, the brand has also been available in Germany, imported by Bugge from the Black Forest.
The Dapper Cigar Collection
The La Madrina series was introduced in the U.S. in 2017. Its Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper comes from Oliva.
The Siempre Sun Grown line also features a wrapper from this house. The name “Siempre” represents the continuous commitment to high quality. The El Borracho series, except for its San Andres wrapper from Mexico, is made entirely of Nicaraguan tobaccos.
