Daniel Marshall Cigars – From Workshop to Smoking Pleasure
Daniel Marshall is a doer. A look at his more than 30-year career in the world of tobacco and cigars clearly shows how this man, coming from modest beginnings, established himself in the industry through dedication and craftsmanship. Originally a handy teenager in Malibu, his love for working with wood was his first step into the world of cigars. It was through humidors that he came to cigars – with great success.
His first humidor project was born out of personal motivation – a gift for his then-girlfriend’s father. The small travel case made of teak wood was so well received that he was advised to contact Dunhill. They were impressed and quickly gave him his first orders. This led to Marshall’s passion for cigars and a steadily growing business.
Wood-Loving and Detail-Oriented – The Rise of Daniel Marshall
Marshall invested the proceeds from selling his self-built wooden sailboat into his small business, which initially operated out of his garage and apartment. His love of craftsmanship and his commitment to the highest quality soon earned him recognition – even among celebrities. Figures like Schwarzenegger, Pacino, and Stallone were among his clients. To this day, his humidors are considered coveted collector’s items – in Hollywood and beyond, such as the Marshall Humidor.
Cigars From the Hand of Daniel Marshall
It was a logical step: from humidor to his own cigar line. With the support of Manuel Quesada, whose family has built up tobacco expertise over generations, a partnership on equal footing was born. The Quesadas' roots go back to Cuba and reach into today's Dominican Republic. Today, cigars for brands like Quesada and Fonseca are produced under the MATASA banner.
Cigar Quality Without Gimmicks
With the Red Label Series, Marshall – in collaboration with tobacco experts from Plasencia – launched a line that consistently receives positive reviews. These Nicaraguan cigars primarily appeal to smokers who value balanced flavors and good value for money.
Marshall’s gold-adorned cigars are a particular highlight. These extraordinary pieces are wrapped in 24-karat gold leaf – a visual experience. The gold layer remains intact as the cigar burns, giving the ash a unique shimmer. These vitolas are not only a treat for the eyes but also offer a distinctive flavor – a refined indulgence for connoisseurs.
