Casa de Torres – Cigars by Schuster
The cigars from Casa de Torres are part of the first and to this day most successful private label of the August Schuster family. The brand embodies a family tradition over 100 years old, which has played a significant role in German tobacco history.
The Origins in Bünde
The story began with baker Hermann Schuster, who founded a cigar factory in Bünde in 1897, where his sons Richard and Georg also worked. After their deaths, Hermann's son, Dr. Arnold Schuster, continued the family business, with the Schuster daughters also contributing to the operations. The cornerstone of today’s traditional company was laid by Dr. August Schuster, who started his own cigar production in 1909. His efforts established Bünde as one of Germany's key cigar towns. The family tradition has been preserved across generations: Dr. Hans Schuster took over in 1953, leading the company for 30 years, followed by brothers Manfred and Philipp Schuster.

The founders' values are reflected in the products to this day, with quality as the Schuster family’s top priority. Their brands are firmly established in specialty stores. Alongside Partageno, Lepanto, C. Mendoza, Casa de Torres, Brazil Trüllerie, and the popular Maria Mancini, Casa de Torres holds a prominent place in the cigar world.
To gain independence from other producers, the Schuster family decided in the 1990s to develop their own handcrafted longfiller cigar under the Casa de Torres name in collaboration with experienced manufacturers in Nicaragua.
Casa de Torres Cigars: Classic, Edition Especial, Maduro Selection
The Casa de Torres is one of the most renowned cigars from Nicaragua. Developed in 1998 in collaboration with a local manufacturer, these cigars are made exclusively for Schuster. The product range now includes three lines:
- Casa de Torres Classic: Popular since its launch in 1998, these cigars are crafted from select tobaccos from the best harvest years and come in classic formats like Panatela, Toro, and Perfecto.
- Casa de Torres Edition Especial: Introduced in 2007, this line is known for its aromatic flavor and creamy smoke. Hand-rolled longfillers for discerning connoisseurs.
- Casa de Torres Maduro Selection: Presented in 2009 to celebrate the Schuster family’s 100th anniversary. The Maduro variant offers a pleasant sweetness and mild flavor.
