Cain Cigars – Intense Smoking Pleasure with Ligero Character
Straight Ligero – this term stands for robust cigars of Nicaraguan origin. In recent years, these cigars have gained significant popularity in Germany, thanks to the importer Wolfertz GmbH. But how did a manufacturer decide to use only selected tobaccos to create a particularly powerful and aromatic blend?
Cain, like NUB, is a brand under the project label Studio Tobac. This label was founded in 2007 by the Oliva Company. Studio Tobac consists of a group of selected experts from Oliva, known as "The Board," dedicated to delivering exceptional smoking experiences. The unique blend of Cain cigars is crafted by Gilberto Jr., whose goal is to offer premium cigars with a high Ligero content.
The Tobaccos in Cain Cigars
While NUB cigars drew attention with their distinctive 60-ring gauge, Cain focused on the strength of the blend and high nicotine content. Even before their release in 2009, strong cigars suited for seasoned aficionados had become a hallmark.

The distinctive feature of Cain cigars is the deliberate use of three different Ligero tobaccos from Nicaragua. The designation "Straight Ligero" highlights the high proportion of Ligero tobacco in each blend. Despite their strength, these cigars are enjoyable and require a slightly higher humidity level in the humidor to reveal their full flavor.
The tobaccos are sourced from the regions of Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa, used in the Serie F, Maduro, Sun Grown (known as Cain Habano in the USA), and Daytona series. Ligero tobacco, harvested from the upper leaves of the tobacco plant, absorbs the most sunlight and nutrients. Tobaccos from Esteli are considered the strongest, those from Condega impress with strength and a complex aroma, and Jalapa tobaccos are softer and milder.
What Makes Cain Cigars Special
With a Ligero content of over 80%, Cain cigars offer a robust smoking experience designed especially for seasoned enthusiasts. The Daytona series, the latest development, is milder than its predecessors Sun Grown, Maduro, and Serie F. Awards such as 91 points for the Cain Sun Grown from *Cigar Snob*, 92 points for the Daytona from *Cigar Journal*, and 92 points for the Serie F from *Cigar Aficionado* underscore the brand's quality. The Cain NUB line combines the best features of the Cain and NUB brands.
