“Hösy,” as Tobias Höse is affectionately known by his friends and customers, has made a name for himself in the German pipe-making community. Like many others in this craft, he discovered the art of pipe making through his passion for pipe smoking. His love for Virginia flakes and English blends continues to inspire him to this day. Influenced by renowned German pipe makers such as Dirk Heinemann and the creators of CO Pipes, his work is a testament to his dedication.
Inspiration Meets Craftsmanship: Bonsai Pipes
Tobias Höse creates high-quality, handmade pipes in his home workshop. His meticulous craftsmanship and patience stem from years of experience, skills that he has further honed through his second hobby, bonsai cultivation. This blend of patience and precision is not only reflected in the name of his pipes but also in every individual piece he creates.
In addition to being a pipe maker, Hösy is also a family man and musician. For his creations, he exclusively uses high-quality briar wood from Calabria and occasionally olive wood. He enhances the surfaces of his pipes using a self-built sandblasting cabin and even experiments with sandblasted olive wood, which feels particularly pleasant to the touch.
