Since 2015, Alejandro Alfambra has been dedicated to blending his own cigars. Every cigar bearing his name is produced under his personal responsibility. The portfolio is deliberately compact, yet it convinces with a clear signature and solid quality. Prior to this, Alfambra worked for many years as a tobacco grower in Condega and Jalapa, supplying renowned tabacaleras in the region. The consistently strong demand for his tobaccos showed him early on the potential of his work. As a long-standing aficionado, the step toward creating his own cigars was therefore a logical one.
Alejandro Alfambra and the Path to His Own Cigar Brand
Access to high-quality raw materials was ensured from the outset. To this day, large portions of the processed tobaccos come from his own fields. Alfambra initially built his reputation in Europe with hand-rolled longfillers. Spain in particular proved an early stronghold, and production continues to focus primarily on this market. For us, Spain serves as a reliable benchmark, as cigar smokers there are quality-conscious and experienced due to their proximity to Cuba. This demand was a clear signal for us to include Alfambra in our range.
Overview of Alfambra Cigar Series
The best-known line is El Brujito. These cigars combine a creamy base note with a pleasant sweetness and display a remarkable aromatic range. The lineup is complemented by the Classic Orange Serie N. This series is clearly aimed at price-conscious aficionados, is also available in 10-count bundles, and presents itself as relatively mild by Nicaraguan standards, yet not flat.
The Alfambra Seleccion stands for a careful selection of the tobaccos used. The filler features Criollo 98 from Nicaragua, complemented by an H 2000 binder. The wrapper is also H 2000 from Ecuador. This combination delivers a balanced flavor profile with depth and clear structure, without being overwhelming.
The Alfambra JG cigars trace back to Spanish producer Alejandro Mata, who has been involved in several Alfambra projects. A defining characteristic is the use of genuine Cuban tobaccos for both filler and binder. The wrapper comes from Ecuador and consists of H 2000. The origin of the Cuban tobaccos has been documented through official papers from Habanos S.A.
Alfambra Boutique Cigars From Nicaragua
The portfolio was expanded in May 2024 with the Boutique series. This line represents classic craftsmanship and the influence of Alejandro Mata. The entrepreneur from Málaga came to cigars via a roundabout route after attending the Festival del Habano in Cuba at the invitation of Pernod Ricard. His encounter with Alejandro Robaina left a lasting impression and ultimately led to the founding of his own tabacalera in Estelí.
Alfambra Boutique cigars are produced predominantly from tobaccos cultivated by Mata on his own farms in Nicaragua. The filler includes Corojo 99 and H 2000, while the binder is a Nicaraguan Sun Grown. Only the wrapper comes from Ecuador, rounding out the flavor profile.
In terms of flavor, woody and lightly roasted notes come to the fore, accompanied by a subtle creaminess. The aromatic profile remains consistent throughout the smoke. Strength ranges from mild to at most medium-bodied. This makes these cigars particularly suitable for aficionados who value good value for money and reliable quality.
