In 1866, in the northwestern Spanish province of Asturias, a boy was born who would go on to revolutionize the world of tobacco: Alejandro Lopez. By the age of twenty, he had left his homeland and embarked on a journey across the Atlantic. In Panama, he found work in the tobacco fields of the Chiriquí region. His curiosity and thirst for knowledge led him to delve deeply into the secrets of tobacco.
In 1910, at the age of 44, he moved on to the Dominican Republic. There, in the 1920s, he established his first cigar factory near Santiago de los Caballeros. By his mid-fifties, Alejandro Lopez had achieved his life's goal and ran the factory until his death in 1948. Today, cigars bearing his name are cherished by aficionados around the world.
